Join us for a relaxed morning outdoors with a great group of blokes who are looking for something more than just the pub catch up or game of footy (though we enjoy those too). This introductory, easy- paced hike is a chance to get moving, have genuine conversations, and connect with other men in a supportive, natural setting.
This hike is suitable for beginner hikers, with a basic level of fitness. The distance will be 11kms approx. and incorporates a section of beach on hard sand at low tide and general undulating track through the Iron bark basin. Along the way learn about the history of the Jarosite mine passing remnants of the old mine site. A morning tea of homemade treats will be provided . The actual hike will take around 3 hours and we can expect to be back in Ocean Grove around midday. Feel free to stay on for a post hike coffee at Two Doors done upon our return.
Come as you are. Leave feeling better.
**Each participant should bring a small backpack and have a rain jacket, hat, a water bottle to stay hydrated and any snacks they wish to bring. Appropriate footwear is recommended , sneakers or hiking boots are sufficient . Sandals and thongs or other open toed footwear are not recommended.

Meet Geoff
“My name is Geoff, and I’m deeply passionate about the outdoors and the natural world. After a 42-year career with Ford, primarily in Research and Development, I’ve consistently turned to nature as a way to recharge and disconnect from the demands of corporate life. Whether it’s ocean swimming, running, surfing, or hiking, the outdoors—particularly the beach—has always felt like home to me.
For many years, I served as a volunteer lifeguard, actively participating in surf lifesaving competitions, including surf boat rowing and beach events. At the age of 48, I discovered a new passion for running, which led to years of competing in track and field events.
I currently serve as an Ambassador for parkrun Australia, where I support the launch of new events and oversee parkrun activities across the Geelong region. Through this involvement, I’ve gone on to complete numerous marathons and ultramarathons, with a strong preference for off-road and trail running.
In addition to my full-time role at Ford, I am now a certified yoga teacher and work as an outdoor adventure guide, leading hikes both across Australia and internationally. My aim is to create meaningful experiences that combine hiking, yoga, and nature to promote mindfulness, wellbeing, and a sense of peace in people’s everyday lives.”
