Awareness to Action: Trauma-Informed Practice for Yoga Teachers & Space Holders

  • Zero Point Yoga Ocean Grove 41 Smithton Grove Ocean Grove, VIC, 3226 Australia (map)

A transformative 30 hour teacher training program designed to deepen your understanding of trauma and enhance your confidence in applying trauma-informed practices in yoga.

Throughout the program, you’ll explore the continuum of trauma awareness to trauma responsiveness, learning how trauma impacts the body and mind, and how to create safer, more supportive environments for your students. We focus on relevant theory of trauma-informed practices and the body/brain, practical sessions, personal reflective practices, and facilitation opportunities to equip you with the skills to integrate trauma-informed principles into your work.

You’ll gain insights into trauma-sensitive cueing, creating psychosocially safe spaces, and focus on your own self-care routines as a teacher.

EXPECT:

  • Deepen Understanding of Trauma: You’ll be learning how trauma affects the body and mind, the range of trauma informed concepts and trauma informed yoga.

  • Enhance Your Trauma-Aware/Informed Facilitation Skills: You’ll walk away with practical skills to weave trauma-aware or informed practices into your yoga classes, considering how tools like cueing, psychosocial safety considerations, and other trauma-informed practices best fit your unique teaching/space holding style and the community you support.

  • Using Reflective Practice, Create A Plan For Growth & Learning: With a better understanding of the continuum of trauma-informed practices you’ll have opportunity for personal reflective practice in considering how you may weave the teachings that resonate into your life, community and teaching.

  • Build Your Own Self-Care Toolkit: You’ll learn how to look after yourself in your ongoing learning journey on trauma and trauma-informed yoga teaching practice. We acknowledge that being trauma-informed is a practice and requires self care throughout this journey and to best show up for our students self care is paramount.
